I love Just about any recipe that has eggs and sausage. This recipe gives me the best of both worlds when I’m out camping.
For this egg and sausage bake, we use a 14″ Dutch Oven and cook on medium heat.
To achieve this, you will need about 10-12 coals under the Dutch Oven and 12-14 on top of the oven to get an even bake.
You can even play with this recipe by adding diced onions if you like or instead of sausage, try using bacon. I recently made this with both sausage and bacon and it was outstanding.
Time-Saving Tip- Pre-cook your sausage at home. We prefer cooking it into crumbles, but chunks or pieces will work great too. Store the cooked sausage in an air-tight ziplock bag, and this recipe get done in under 20 minutes.
Another great way to save time is to mix the eggs and milk at home. Once mixed, pour into a clean soda bottle and put the lid on. This makes the mixture easy to store and you don’t have to worry about breaking eggs or leaking eggs onto other food.
